Sean McMinn

Sean McMinn is a data journalist based in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as the data and graphics editor at POLITICO and has previously worked on graphics and investigative teams at NPR and CQ Roll Call. He has also taught master’s-level data journalism courses at Northwestern University and American University.

Sean’s work has been recognized with honors from the National Press Foundation, Investigative Reporters and Editors, the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards, and other organizations.

A graduate of Cal Poly, he began his journalism career as a reporter for the Mustang Daily and became the inaugural Mustang Media Group editor when student media unified under MMG in 2013. Originally from Thousand Oaks, California, he remains passionate about using data to tell compelling, fact-driven stories.
